Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Integrated Facility Management for Web-Based Visibility and Efficiency

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the largest nonprofit hospital in the western U.S., undertook a $1 billion Facility Master Plan including the 800,000 sq ft Advanced Health Sciences Pavilion. The project’s scale put intense pressure on the Facilities Planning, Design, and Construction team, who struggled with disparate data across spreadsheets and accounting systems, slow and manual reporting, and limited visibility for executive stakeholders.

The team implemented a centralized, web-based e-Builder project information and cost-control system integrated with their financials, standardizing workflows and consolidating data. As a result, reporting that once took days can be produced in hours, executive dashboards surface risks earlier, design-process staffing needs fell from 5–7 FTEs to 2.5, and the award-winning pavilion was completed in 2013.
