Case Study: NAVFAC achieves automated metering and secure energy billing with Trimark Associates

NAVFAC automates 2,808 power meters with Trimark Associates, Inc. in a $6.6M AMI project

The U.S. Navy's Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) needed to modernize its energy tracking by replacing manual meter reading with an automated system for tenant billing and secure data management. To meet this challenge, NAVFAC, through a subcontract with Weston, engaged Trimark Associates, Inc. to implement an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solution involving meters, a Data Acquisition System (DAS), and communication hardware.

Trimark Associates, Inc. installed a total of 2,808 power meters across 16 bases, along with hundreds of additional utility meters for the Midlant region. The solution included the crucial DAS and supporting network infrastructure to automate consumption tracking and billing. This project, valued at over $6.6 million, successfully provided NAVFAC with a robust system that manages the collected information and meets stringent information assurance objectives.
