Tridium integrates controls on the world’s tallest apartment block

21st Century Tower, a prestigious residential skyscraper in Dubai, faced the complex challenge of integrating its diverse building services equipment, which operated on multiple independent control protocols including BACNET, LONWORKS, and Modbus. The customer required a solution that could unify these systems without the need for complex gateways or expensive supervisory software. To address this, systems integrator Pacific Controls implemented the NIAGARA Framework™ from vendor Tridium.

The Tridium solution embedded their JACE 512 controllers to create a single, open, web-based control environment. This integrated over 4,000 points from various vendors, enabling remote access, monitoring, and impressive subsystem interoperability, such as having the fire detection system automatically trigger safety protocols. The result was a successfully integrated building management system that provided the client with complete freedom for "best in breed" equipment selection, greatly impressing the project consultants.
