GameStop - Customer Case Study

The world's largest video-game retailer, GameStop, faced the challenge of implementing a secure, reliable, and globally accessible centralized monitoring system for its IT facilities across 18 countries. With regional offices running lean staff and facing varied environmental and security concerns, they needed a solution that would integrate seamlessly with existing equipment without imposing additional IT burdens. To address this, GameStop partnered with vendor Tridium to utilize the Niagara Framework.

Using Tridium’s Niagara Framework, a centralized system was implemented to monitor over 12,500 points across 10 international locations, tracking temperature, humidity, security, and battery backup. This provided GameStop’s global operations center with complete operational insight to prevent after-hours issues. The solution delivered a robust notification system and the adaptability to work with diverse office setups. Tridium's platform enabled GameStop to increase efficiency and prepare for calculating key metrics like data center infrastructure efficiency (DCIE) and power usage effectiveness (PUE) for better cost estimation on future projects.
