TVNZ, New Zealand’s national broadcaster, relied on MediaBook to manage TV advertising revenue but faced a heavy testing burden: a manual regression suite of 2,500+ test cases, extensive (15 person-day) data setup per cycle, and 3–4 week test windows that pulled business SMEs away from core work, reduced coverage, and limited upgrade frequency.
TVNZ ran a successful proof-of-concept and then implemented Tricentis TOSCA model-based testing, automating data setup with reusable test libraries. In four months they automated a 1,268‑case core regression (12,215 verification points, 27,859 actions), cut execution effort by 94% (from ~70+ days to 4 days), enabled non-specialists to run tests, and achieved an annual testing cost reduction of over 58% with a 1.7‑year break-even.
