RMS optimizes efficiency and reduces business risk coverage while accelerating testing time and efforts

Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), the NSW government agency responsible for vehicle licensing, tolling and road management, faced an urgent testing challenge: a second-generation, script-based automation platform was at end-of-life and a shift to component-based SOA had made existing tests ineffective. Manual regression testing had become costly and time-consuming, with high maintenance and scheduling burdens, so RMS needed a single, maintainable and transparent functional test automation solution to future-proof their QA.

Using Tricentis Tosca, RMS automated the core regression suite in under nine months across two major systems and five applications—covering DRIVES, myRego/myEtoll eBusiness, a B2B dealer integration layer, an Incident Management System and SAP—with 2,255 test cases, 338,715 test actions and 20,266 verification points. The rollout slashed SAP execution time by 96%, optimized efficiency by 70% and accelerated time-to-value by 88%.
