GfK accelerates SAP regression testing with Tosca Testsuite

GfK, a global market-intelligence firm operating in over 100 countries, uses Agile teams but had no traditional testing department. They needed to build a basic SAP testing structure, an automated regression portfolio and flexible test data management to validate processes across SAP modules (financials, assets, cost accounting, production planning, plants and personnel), identify automatable processes and valid test-data combinations, and ensure stable, connected environments — all with a tool that supports SAP GUI, SAP NetWeaver and non-GUI apps without requiring deep technical testers.

GfK used the Tricentis Tosca Testsuite, which delivered a very fast roll-out and allowed test automation to commence immediately; after initial setup QA users could execute, expand and maintain the test portfolio and test data themselves. Outcomes included risk coverage increasing from 0% to 80%, test automation rising to 55%, and execution time reduced by 93%; GfK is now extending automation (C3PO, NetWeaver) and exploring orchestrated service virtualization.
