Case Study: DEME achieves €400K annual savings and improved dredging efficiency with TrendMiner self-service analytics

A TrendMiner Case Study

Preview of the DEME Case Study

How dredging benefits from self service advanced data analytics

DEME, a global leader in dredging and marine engineering, faced operational challenges from remote, decentralized dredging projects where variable soil conditions and limited connectivity made it hard to share data and avoid costly vessel downtime. Project engineer Manu De Block sought a lightweight way to mirror operator data and leverage historical sensor data, and chose the OSIsoft PI system together with TrendMiner’s self-service industrial analytics to give teams direct access to time-series data.

TrendMiner’s analytics on top of the PI system helped DEME identify recurring performance oscillations across ships, correlate them with soil types, and adjust set points to eliminate oscillations, enabling condition-based maintenance and better project planning. The insights improved local dredging understanding, reduced uncertainty, fostered a data culture, and delivered measurable savings—upwards of €400K annually for just one asset type.
