How CP Kelco reduced process deviations, resulting in yearly potential savings of over $1m

CP Kelco, a global producer of specialty hydrocolloids, needed deeper insight from its OSIsoft PI time-series data to reduce process deviations, improve throughput and quality, and lower operating costs. Senior Manager Operational Excellence Norman Ridgley sought a self-service analytics solution and selected TrendMiner to help merge, visualize and analyze plant data across sites without complex migrations.

TrendMiner implemented its self-service industrial analytics on top of CP Kelco’s OSIsoft PI/AF environment, using pattern overlays, fingerprinting and exception-based analysis to pinpoint root causes and monitor batch deviations while training engineers to use the tool. The solution reduced process deviations, cut raw material and energy use, improved quality and cross-site data use, and is on track to deliver potential yearly savings of over $1 million.
