Kuraray, a global chemicals and materials company, needed a better way to analyze years of plant time-series data that had been trapped in spreadsheets. The company turned to TrendMiner, an industrial analytics platform, to help process experts and engineers work faster, spot issues sooner, and improve decisions around maintenance and plant operations.

Using TrendMiner, Kuraray set up monitors and email alerts, performed root cause analysis, compared long histories of process data, and saved “golden fingerprints” for optimal startup conditions. The results included preventing an environmental incident, cutting 14 hours from each startup, and avoiding 30 hours of unscheduled downtime through better maintenance scheduling. TrendMiner also helped Kuraray improve plant safety, reduce waste, and address anomalies more quickly.
