United Way of Greater Atlanta upgrades endpoint security in response to changing needs of a mobile workforce

United Way of Greater Atlanta is a century-old nonprofit serving 13 counties with about 220 staff, a largely mobile workforce, BYOD devices, virtual desktops and Office 365. Protecting donor and recipient data became critical as their seven‑year‑old endpoint solution proved inadequate for laptops, Macs, remote agents and cloud file sharing, and the small IT team was forced into reactive firefighting rather than proactive security.

The organization deployed Trend Micro Smart Protection for Endpoints (alongside Deep Security), implementing it in about 45 minutes and rolling it out with modules for DLP, endpoint encryption, Mac support and centralized Control Manager. Since deployment, the solution has automatically quarantined threats, blocked roughly 50 web-based malware incidents in four months, kept server utilization low, reduced weekly security crises and enabled the IT team to secure donor data more efficiently without increasing overhead.
