A Trend Micro Case Study
United Way of Greater Atlanta, a 220-employee nonprofit that manages $100M in annual programs, moved to a VMware virtual environment and VDI to scale for its seasonal fundraising surge (from ~80 to as many as 150 VMs). The IT team found traditional agent-based endpoint security caused performance slowdowns during updates and didn’t scale across the main and remote disaster-recovery data centers, putting business continuity at risk.
They deployed VMware vShield and Trend Micro Deep Security (anti-malware, web reputation, firewall, log inspection) integrated with Smart Protection Suite, completing the install quickly and agentlessly. The solution blocked real threats in real time, removed two VDI hosts and four server hosts thanks to improved efficiency, kept server utilization low during scans, extended protection to the DR site, and provided proactive alerts with minimal support overhead.
