A Trend Micro Case Study
The Intermunicipal Association for Public Health in the Region of Charleroi (ISPPC), which runs CHU de Charleroi and 76 other care sites including five hospitals and ~4,200 staff, faced the challenge of keeping a highly open, multi-site healthcare IT environment secure. With growing numbers of networks, ports, IoT devices and critical digital systems (EPD, monitoring, lab, building controls) — and limited public-sector IT resources — the hospital needed a proactive, integrated security strategy to protect patient data and operations.
CHU de Charleroi deployed a consolidated Trend Micro stack (endpoint, network, gateway, sandboxing, virtual security and Control Manager SIEM) to centralize management and automate defenses. The solution scans ~38,000 files monthly via sandboxing (17 previously unknown threats stopped in three months) and protects a mail gateway that handles 780,000 messages per month (about 15,000 spam and ~100 critical malware now detected). The result: stronger, multi-layered protection, centralized visibility and simpler day-to-day management for the IT team.
