A Trend Micro Case Study
The Government of the Canary Islands, which serves more than 2.1 million residents across two capitals and employs over 60,000 people, faced the challenge of securing a highly distributed and heterogeneous IT environment—30,000 PCs, 5,000 servers and 1,850 administrative centers—while reducing complexity, improving visibility and integrating with third‑party systems. With many independent platforms and attack surfaces, the executive needed a unified, manageable multilayer security strategy that wouldn’t overload resources.
By standardizing on Trend Micro solutions—Apex One, Deep Security, Deep Discovery and TippingPoint—across Windows, VMware and Linux environments, the government implemented endpoint, server, network, sandboxing, IPS and virtual‑patching protections with centralized visibility and shared threat intelligence. The deployment delivered comprehensive, automated detection and response, simplified management (the platform is managed by two people), improved vulnerability protection and a scalable, integrated architecture that met compliance and operational needs.
