Stolt-Nielsen Relies on Trend Micro TippingPoint for IT Network Security

Stolt‑Nielsen Limited, a global transportation services provider with more than 120 ships and thousands of tank containers, faced new security risks when vessels and OT/SCADA systems were connected to the corporate network. Regulatory constraints (for example, antivirus software not permitted on navigation systems), a mix of legacy and IoT devices, and the need for an agentless, 24/7 supported solution drove the company to seek an intrusion prevention approach.

After a successful proof of value, Stolt‑Nielsen deployed Trend Micro TippingPoint 2200T in its data centers to inspect and block malicious traffic to ships and rolled the solution out to 103 vessels in about six weeks. It also outsourced SOC operations to Tata Consultancy Services and uses Trend Micro Deep Security for hybrid cloud workloads. The deployment immediately exposed and stopped threats (one system had 40 viruses), made previously invisible activity visible for correlation and deep inspection, and strengthened compliance and operational focus.
