Oman Arab Bank Deploys Connected Threat Defense for Greater Network Visibility

Oman Arab Bank, founded in 1984 and operating more than 65 branches and 148 ATMs across the Sultanate, faced a sharp rise in cyberthreats—more than 15,000 external threats daily plus thousands of spam and phishing messages—and struggled with standalone security systems that provided little visibility, were hard to manage, and caused costly downtime. The bank needed a scalable, layered solution to protect endpoints, networks and data centers and to detect and stop stealthy, targeted attacks and ransomware.

OAB deployed Trend Micro’s Connected Threat Defense—including Deep Security for servers, TippingPoint IPS, and Advanced Threat Protection—to deliver integrated, end-to-end protection, real-time detection and automated response. The implementation gave the bank centralized management and full visibility of inbound/outbound traffic, faster incident response, effective ransomware defense (including WannaCry variants), and greater confidence among partners and customers; OAB is now moving toward endpoint segmentation using the same platform.
