NTT DOCOMO and Trend Micro Protect IoT Devices by Providing Cloud-Based Security Services

NTT DOCOMO, a Tokyo-based telecom serving enterprise customers, faced rising security risks as customers migrated to faster 5G networks: more attacks targeting devices and infected-device traffic were expected, and requiring each customer to configure security functions individually created potential vulnerabilities in the DOCOMO Cloud Platform.

In technical verification on the DOCOMO 5G Open Cloud, Trend Micro’s Virtual Network Function Suite (VNFS) was deployed to provide cloud-based network security—adding unauthorized-access detection and blocking between devices and the cloud. The solution strengthened IoT and network protection on DOCOMO’s Cloud Platform, delivering long-term security for devices while reducing customers’ security-management costs.
