Government Organization adds Layered Defense and Protects Sensitive Data

The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIOBC) is a civilian oversight agency that investigates officer-related incidents and handles highly sensitive reports, media, and case data. After a 2015 audit and increasing exposure to hacktivist and insider threats, IIOBC’s new IT security lead identified the need for a layered defense, better visibility into compromises, secure field laptop protection, and endpoint encryption to meet audit and privacy requirements.

IIOBC implemented Trend Micro Deep Security (all modules) and Trend Micro Endpoint Encryption, using cloud-managed Deep Security as a Service for laptops and integrating virtual patching, intrusion prevention, host firewalls, integrity monitoring, log inspection, and Smart Protection Network intelligence. The rollout delivered protection within two weeks, improved visibility and faster threat detection, simplified security management, secured file sharing and encrypted endpoints for compliance, and positioned the agency to add Deep Discovery for advanced threat detection.
