As Attacks Increase, Trend Micro Cloud App Security Bolsters Cyber Defences for the University of Warwick

The University of Warwick, a UK higher-education institution with about 25,000 students and 6,200 staff, was seeing rising phishing, ransomware and other targeted attacks against its Office 365 environment. Its legacy Unix-based anti-spam and malware relays struggled with the increasing volume and complexity of threats, so ITS sought a tightly integrated third‑party solution that protected email, SharePoint and OneDrive.

In January 2017 Warwick chose Trend Micro Cloud App Security — an API-based add-on that provides document-exploit detection, Deep Discovery sandboxing, URL intelligence and DLP across Office 365 services. After pen testing and a short monitoring period, deployment noticeably reduced the malware reaching users’ inboxes, blocked thousands of malicious items visible on a single dashboard, lowered resource demands and delivered cost‑neutral, measurable security improvements.
