Advanced Threat Protection for Patient Health Information

Navicent Health is a 5,300-employee not-for-profit healthcare system in Georgia that operates a Level I Trauma Center and other inpatient and outpatient services. Facing an increase in time and cost spent remediating malware, the IT team was particularly concerned about unmanaged biomedical devices and public kiosks that couldn’t run standard antivirus, creating risks to patient care, PHI and HIPAA Stage 2 Meaningful Use compliance.

Navicent upgraded endpoint and mobility security and deployed Trend Micro’s Deep Discovery (Inspector and Analyzer) and Threat Management tools to gain 24/7 network-wide visibility, sandboxing and finer-grained detection. Within 48 hours the solution found infections on vendor-owned biomedical devices; since deployment Navicent has reduced cleanup time and false positives, improved compliance reporting and executive visibility, and plans to expand sandbox analysis to scale protection.
