Boehringer Ingelheim, a global pharmaceutical company with 176 affiliates and €24.1 billion in 2022 sales, faced fragmented treasury and payment processes across multiple SAP/Oracle instances and more than 46 country-specific payroll providers. Wanting a cloud-based, multilayered solution to harmonize connectivity, centralize approvals and improve compliance without a costly in‑house build, they selected TIS (Treasury Intelligence Solutions) to provide an integrated payments platform (including CashOptix and PayOptix services).

TIS implemented a central cloud hub that routes payment files from Boehringer Ingelheim’s SAP and HR systems via one SFTP gateway, handling EBICS, H2H and SWIFT connectivity, bank account/statement management, payment execution and sanctions screening. The rollout centralized vendor and HR payments across 46 countries, processed >90% of all payments (>1.2M payments/year, >€110B volume) with >88% straight‑through processing, reduced IT effort, standardized approval workflows, and strengthened compliance and fraud prevention.
