Memphis International Airport modernizes 8 restrooms with TRAX Analytics across a $500 million concourse program

Memphis International Airport undertook a major $500 million modernization program for its concourses. As part of the Concourse B renovation, the airport faced the challenge of maintaining new, high-quality restrooms. The existing method of cleaning on a fixed schedule did not align with fluctuating passenger traffic, making it difficult to efficiently manage labor and ensure cleanliness based on actual usage. The airport partnered with TRAX Analytics to find a data-driven solution.

TRAX Analytics implemented its SmartRestroom solution, which included throughput monitoring, Bluetooth badges for custodial staff, and a mobile application. This system creates a continuous loop: sensors alert supervisors when a restroom needs service, custodians are dispatched, and their work is verified with a quality control check before the alert clears. The result is on-demand cleaning triggered by passenger volume. Since the October 2021 deployment, Memphis International Airport uses TRAX's integrated data to monitor passenger trends and accurately set cleaning frequencies and labor levels.
