Case Study: Mountain Metropolitan Transit improves service frequency and on-time performance with Trapeze Group

A Trapeze Group Case Study

Preview of the Mountain Metropolitan Transit Case Study

From Bare Bones Transit to Award-Winning Transit How Mmt Did It

Mountain Metropolitan Transit (MMT), the public transit agency for Colorado Springs, was struggling after the 2008 recession forced major budget cuts and reduced service by a third. Working with Trapeze Group and its planning and performance tools, including APC, FX/BlockBuster, OPS, PLAN, and Viewpoint, MMT needed a better way to use route productivity and on-time performance data to rebuild service, improve frequency, and expand coverage for riders.

Using Trapeze Group’s data-driven approach, MMT optimized its routes and long-range transit plan, splitting two routes into four shorter ones and increasing north-south corridor service to 15-minute intervals. The results were significant: faster travel times, improved on-time performance, a 19% increase in revenue service hours from 2015 to 2016, and an increase in service days from 255 to 362, helping MMT win the 2016 Large Community Transit Agency of the Year award.
