Volusia County Schools migrates 313 million messages to Office 365 with TransVault in 12 months

Volusia County Schools, a large public school district in Florida, faced the challenge of migrating a decade's worth of email archives from an unsupported on-premises Zovy Archive Solution to a new platform. This was critical to meet their legal data retention obligations under the Florida Sunshine Law. They chose to move to Microsoft Office 365 and enlisted TransVault and their partner Compliance IT Solutions to perform the migration using TransVault Migrator.

The solution implemented by TransVault successfully migrated 5.6 terabytes of data, comprising approximately 313 million messages, over a 12-month period. The migration was remarkably smooth with an incredibly low error rate; only around 200,000 messages failed or were skipped, many of which were already corrupt in the source. TransVault ensured the district retained secure access to all its archived data, allowing it to continue meeting its statutory requirements.
