Banner Health Increases POS Collections Through Implementing Tools From TransUnion Healthcare

Banner Health, which operates 28 facilities in the Western and Arizona regions, wanted to give patients timely and accurate cost estimates before service and increase point-of-service collections. Its existing Excel-based tool could not handle complex payer contracts or generate professional estimate letters, so the health system partnered with TransUnion Healthcare and its ClearIQ Patient Payment Estimation solution.

TransUnion implemented ClearIQ across Banner Health’s registration points, loading payer contracts into the system and automating estimate generation, including its Auto Add technology. With training and support from TransUnion, Banner Health improved patient financial transparency and raised POS collections from $75.3 million in 2013 to $107.1 million in 2017, a $31.8 million increase and 42.2% growth.
