Bekaert Corporation develops a Controllable Freight Strategy in North America

Bekaert Corporation, a global leader in steel wire transformation and coating technologies, needed to better align strategic sourcing with day-to-day transportation execution across its North American operations. Before working with Transporeon, each plant managed its own logistics, carrier selection lacked transparency, freight assignments were handled manually by phone and email, and shipping sites struggled with dock congestion and detention costs due to poor visibility.

Transporeon implemented its platform across Bekaert’s five U.S. manufacturing facilities and three additional business units, including Shipment Execution, Best Carrier, No-Touch Order, and Time Slot Management integrated with SAP. The result was a centralized “control tower” approach that improved planning, automation, and reporting, while helping Bekaert validate carrier selection and manage detention more effectively. Bekaert reported approximately 40% year-over-year freight cost savings on most lanes managed with Transporeon.
