Yahoo faced the challenge of delivering up-to-the-minute FIFA World Cup coverage to a global audience—projected at more than 30 million visitors—by localizing web content into nine languages with very tight SLAs (15-minute response and one-hour turnaround), seamless CMS integration, and automated, concurrent workflows for over two million words of source content. TransPerfect was brought in to provide a scalable localization solution, using its GlobalLink GMS/Project Director technology to meet these requirements.

TransPerfect implemented a customized process that certified and managed more than 200 translators, integrated GlobalLink Project Director with Yahoo’s CMS for automated file transfer and project organization, and separated linguistic from technical tasks to protect file integrity under aggressive deadlines. The result: Yahoo’s FIFA site was successfully deployed in all nine languages on schedule, delivering real-time updates at scale and meeting the project’s turnaround and quality targets.
