Case Study: Hilton International achieves rapid, scalable multilingual website launches with TransPerfect GlobalLink

A TransPerfect Case Study

Preview of the Hilton International Case Study

Hilton International - Customer Case Study

Hilton International, which operates more than 400 hotels under the Hilton, Scandic and Conrad brands, set an aggressive 2002 e-commerce plan to localize websites for its top markets (UK, Germany, Japan) and key Scandinavian sites. The program faced tight launch windows (four sites slated between June and October 2003), heavy volumes (over 2.5 million words and 25,000 content files), complex integration with Interwoven TeamSite and Oracle databases, and the need to coordinate global content authors without inflating headcount. Hilton engaged TransPerfect to support the initiative, leveraging TransPerfect’s GlobalLink multilingual content management solution.

TransPerfect implemented GlobalLink with custom adapters for TeamSite and Oracle—installed and configured in two days—to automate content selection, routing and synchronization across more than 5,000 content repositories without disrupting Hilton’s source workflow. GlobalLink gave file-level visibility to managers, compressed approval cycles and accelerated the localization timeline, while TransPerfect’s outsourced linguists and project managers provided scalable, on-call support under a master services agreement. The solution enabled Hilton’s large-scale localization effort (involving the 2.5M+ words and 25,000 files) to proceed with fewer internal resources and faster turnaround.
