Case Study: National Archives of Australia achieves cohesive audiovisual asset management and preservation with TransMedia Dynamics

The National Archives of Australia (NAA) needed a cohesive audiovisual collections management system that could handle nearly one million physical and digital assets, replace two in-house databases, support preservation workflows, and make content accessible across seven offices. TransMedia Dynamics (TMD) was selected to deliver a robust, scalable, and flexible solution using its Mediaflex-UMS platform.

TransMedia Dynamics implemented Mediaflex-UMS with a configurable data migration approach, cleaning and migrating more than 600,000 records from RecordSearch and PSaMI into one common interface, while also supporting preservation, storage management, and integrations with key archive technologies. The project went live on time and on budget in March 2014, giving the NAA a stronger audiovisual asset management and digital preservation system for nearly 1 million items and 30 researchers plus 400 staff across 7 locations.
