Case Study: GoTriangle achieves 26% ridership growth with TransLoc's regional real-time transit system

A Transloc Case Study

Preview of the GoTriangle Case Study

Bringing all Sides Together in North Carolina’s Triangle

GoTriangle faced the challenge of unifying real-time transit information across seven distinct agencies in North Carolina’s Triangle—each using different AVL providers and serving a diverse rider population across about 500 buses—while making that information accessible via web, mobile, IVR and SMS. To meet this need they selected Transloc to provide a multi-agency real-time passenger information system that would integrate with existing hardware and support desktop maps, mobile apps, a mobile site, SMS and a call-center interface.

Transloc implemented a region-wide real-time information platform that aggregated each agency’s AVL data without replacing existing systems and delivered live maps, iPhone/Android apps, an ADA-friendly text service, and call-center tools. The results were measurable and significant: ridership rose 26%, call-center-to-dispatch calls fell 68%, average call length dropped 6 seconds (with ~1,400 calls/day), call volumes stabilized, no additional call-center staff were needed, and customer satisfaction improved.
