Auburn’s Tiger Transit Earns Their Stripes

Auburn University’s Tiger Transit faced the challenge of supporting a pedestrian-only campus core while serving over 30,000 students and faculty with limited parking. To reduce rider uncertainty and increase safety and sustainability, Auburn selected Transloc’s real-time bus tracking solution — chosen for second-by-second tracking, clear route displays and web-based management — to give riders accurate vehicle locations and arrival times.

Transloc’s system provided live tracking, replay, reporting and dispatch tools, which helped build rider trust and operational visibility; student buy-in even supported a modest fee increase to fund the service. As a result, Auburn saw a 333% increase in ridership from 2002–2012, keeps 5,000 cars off the road twice daily, earned a STARS silver sustainability rating, and achieved its goal of a pedestrian-focused campus while improving rider satisfaction.
