A Transfr Case Study
Transfr partnered with Southern Illinois University to explore the effectiveness of virtual reality for aviation maintenance training. The challenge was to measure how well VR skills training, compared to traditional video instruction, could prepare students with no prior experience to perform complex mechanical tasks in the real world and to assess the appeal of the training method.
The solution involved Transfr's VR simulations that taught students tasks like "Wheel and Tire Replacement." In a controlled study, students who learned via VR correctly performed 76% of the procedural steps in a real-world test, a statistically significant improvement over the 68% success rate from video-based learning. Transfr also found that students overwhelmingly preferred the VR method, reporting significantly higher levels of enjoyment and enthusiasm for the immersive training experience.
