Shelton State Community College Equips Job Seekers with Critical Skills via Transfr Simulations

Shelton State Community College, in support of the state of Alabama's goal to add 500,000 skilled workers, faced the challenge of scaling its Ready to Work program to equip job seekers with the technical skills required by local manufacturers. They partnered with the vendor Transfr to integrate its virtual reality simulations into their curriculum, aiming to provide effective hands-on training without the high costs of physical equipment or additional instructors.

Transfr implemented its VR simulations to deliver training in areas like plant safety, precision measurement, and blueprint reading. This solution augmented classroom instruction, allowing 128 students to complete 1,883 simulations with a 92% mastery rate. The technology increased student engagement, provided immediate feedback, and gave instructors real-time data to tailor their support, successfully preparing trainees for on-the-job roles in manufacturing.
