How Transfr’s Paint Robot Simulation Revolutionized Training at Mazda Toyota Factory

Mazda Toyota Manufacturing faced the challenge of needing to rapidly train a high volume of workers on new, state-of-the-art paint robots that were not yet installed on-site. Taking this equipment offline for traditional training was not a viable option, as it would cost the company $22,000 per minute. The vendor, Transfr, provided a solution through its virtual reality hands-on training simulations to prepare employees effectively before the physical equipment arrived.

Using Transfr’s VR simulations that perfectly mirrored the real-world plant environment, a pilot group of 31 "robot doctors" was trained. This solution yielded a 46% improvement in troubleshooting time and overwhelmingly positive trainee feedback, with 95% feeling prepared for the job and 85% preferring this method over traditional training. Transfr’s implementation successfully allowed Mazda Toyota to train its workforce on unavailable equipment without any costly downtime.
