Balancing Supply & Demand of Food Shipments During a Pandemic

RWI Logistics, a Greater Cincinnati–based refrigerated truckload provider and part of the Castellini Group, faced a COVID-19–driven surge in food-and-beverage freight that created capacity imbalances, dramatic spikes in reefer tender rejections, and rapidly changing hot spots. To reduce paperwork friction and improve driver safety and carrier experience, RWI turned to Transflo, using truck stop scanning, mobile scanning, Transflo Now and Transflo Mobile+ (with plans to expand to Transflo Velocity+).

Transflo’s in-cab and mobile scanning solutions enabled RWI drivers to submit paperwork digitally (nearly half of drivers now use in-cab options), improving safety per CDC guidance and earning positive driver feedback on Transflo Mobile+. Working closely with Transflo’s team, RWI has strengthened carrier development, increased driver adoption of multi-service apps, and gained the visibility and operational support needed to better manage capacity imbalances during the pandemic.
