Redistricting Simplified with Transfinder

Spencerport Central School District, a rural-suburban district west of Rochester, New York, needed to manage redistricting after a new elementary school was built, 6th grade was moved to middle school, and a multi-tier routing system was introduced. The district serves about 4,500 students across four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school, and needed a way to keep routing changes aligned with safety and distance guidelines.

Using Transfinder’s Routefinder Pro, the transportation department was able to review student populations by neighborhood and grade, test boundary options, and build routes and bus stops more efficiently. The district said the software simplified the redistricting process, helped narrow boundary choices to about three options, supported public forums with clear visuals, and contributed to the smoother opening of the September 2003 school year.
