A Transfinder Case Study
Madison County School District needed to manage rising transportation costs when Glenn Marshall Elementary School opened and three new routes were added. The district transports over 8,000 students, so the added routes raised concerns about how to contain costs while meeting the new scheduling needs.
To address this, Madison County School District implemented Transfinder’s Routefinder Pro routing software and later added Infofinder i for parent access to bus routes and stops online. With Transfinder, the district organized morning and afternoon routes, reduced buses, miles traveled, and personnel, and used aerial photographs to plan more precisely. By 2009, buses were traveling 169,566 fewer miles each year, 14 fewer school buses were needed, and the district reported total annual savings of $326,896.
