Preview of the Itaú Unibanco Case Study

Itaú Unibanco enables USDT payouts across 100+ countries with TransFi

The customer, Itaú Unibanco, Brazil's largest private bank, faced the challenge of expanding its digital asset capabilities to meet the rising demand for stablecoin payments and cross-border solutions in the local market. Partnering with vendor TransFi, the bank sought to leverage its existing PIX infrastructure to create efficient systems for USDT collection and payout.

TransFi implemented a solution that combined USDT stablecoin rails with Brazil's instant PIX system and Itaú Unibanco's banking infrastructure. This hybrid model enabled businesses to collect payments from global customers in USDT and efficiently convert the funds to Brazilian Reais (BRL) for instant deposit into PIX-enabled bank accounts. The results included faster settlement times compared to traditional bank wires, lower costs for cross-border flows, and optimized local currency utilization for businesses operating in Brazil.
