Willoughby-Eastlake School District, a large K-12 district in Ohio, was facing aging infrastructure, high energy costs, and outdated lighting across 12 buildings. Working with Trane Commercial, the district sought a more economical alternative to full reconstruction and needed an approach that would improve the learning environment while controlling operating costs.

Trane Commercial led an investment-grade audit and helped implement a whole-building retrofit that included lighting upgrades, rooftop units, and improvements to the Kennedy building’s doors, windows, and roofing. The project produced about 4,375,535 kWh in annual energy savings, nearly $663,000 in energy savings, and an estimated total impact of roughly $1.26 million per year, while repurposing the vacant Kennedy building into Kennedy Academy for special needs students.
