Wichita Area Technical College - Customer Case Study

Wichita Area Technical College (WATC) needed to modernize its aging HVAC training labs to attract new students and better prepare graduates for a changing industry. Trane Commercial partnered with the college to support an upgrade of its HVAC program and Climate and Energy Control Technologies Lab, including advanced heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment and building automation technologies.

Working with NC3, Trane Commercial helped deliver an industry-relevant curriculum, oversee lab renovation, and provide train-the-trainer support for instructors. The updated lab now features new Trane equipment such as rooftop units, air handling units, water source heat pumps, variable-air-volume units, variable frequency drives, and Trane Tracer SC building automation systems, resulting in a stronger curriculum, improved faculty resources, and increased recruitment, including a waiting list for the HVAC program.
