Watchtower World Headquarters avoids 2,650 tons of CO2 per year with Trane Commercial

Watchtower World Headquarters, a religious organization, faced the challenge of building a fully electrified, 1.6 million square foot sustainable campus in Ramapo, NY. The project required an innovative HVAC solution capable of efficiently handling widely varying heating and cooling demands across residential, production, and dining facilities, all while pioneering large-scale heat recovery and eliminating fossil fuels. Trane Commercial worked with the customer to design a highly efficient central chiller plant.

The solution implemented by Trane included a hybrid chiller plant with HDWA centrifugal chillers and RTWD screw chillers, integrated with New York's largest geothermal field. This Trane system delivers high-temperature hot water up to 130°F and uses advanced building automation for dynamic control. The results are a 100% fossil-free campus that avoids 2,650 tons of CO2 annually and achieves 73% heating and cooling energy savings compared to code baseline, earning a NYSERDA Buildings of Excellence Award.
