Warrick County Jail - Customer Case Study

Warrick County Jail in Boonville, Indiana needed to replace aging HVAC systems and fix comfort, ventilation, and water flow problems that were driving up operating costs and creating indoor air quality concerns. Trane Commercial was brought in through a long-term relationship and proposed a performance contracting approach, including a PACT agreement, to help fund the upgrades without upfront capital.

Trane Commercial implemented a comprehensive solution that included an energy audit, replacement of 17 aging HVAC zones with 14 high-efficiency Precedent rooftop units and 3 split systems, a new kitchen make-up air unit, water conservation retrofits, improved piping and controls, and ongoing monitoring through Intelligent Services and a Tracer SC System Controller. The results exceeded expectations: the jail reduced annual energy consumption by nearly 20%, saved more than six million gallons of water and $80,000 in costs, and cut carbon dioxide emissions by 99 metric tons per year.
