The Von Braun Center, a commercial facility in Huntsville, Alabama, faced significant challenges with its aging and inefficient HVAC systems. Trane Commercial evaluated the systems and implemented a comprehensive solution, including new CenTraVac chillers with variable frequency drives and a Tracer building automation system. This upgrade converted the facility to a variable primary chilled water system, optimizing operations. The results included an immediate utility rebate of $35,728 and estimated yearly savings of over $300,000. Upon completion of the full multi-phase plan, total life cycle savings are projected to exceed $3 million, alongside improved cooling capability and reduced maintenance labor.
