Volkswagen Chattanooga needed efficient, reliable cooling and compressed air systems for its new assembly plant in Tennessee, where mission-critical operations such as robotic welding, painting, and IT server cooling depended on uninterrupted performance. The company also needed timely delivery to keep construction on schedule, making Trane Commercial’s chillers and related control systems a key part of the facility’s infrastructure.

Trane Commercial supplied three 1,700-ton chillers and one 400-ton chiller with a Tracer Summit™ chiller plant management system, while Ingersoll Rand provided compressors and dryers. Trane Commercial delivered the chillers in about half the time of other suppliers, met or exceeded Volkswagen’s specifications, and helped the plant achieve a more efficient operation; the systems are performing well, and Volkswagen awarded Trane and Ingersoll Rand Preferred Partner status.
