The Town of Manning faced significant challenges with the aging, inefficient ammonia-based ice plant at their sports centre arena, including frequent breakdowns, high utility bills, and outdated safety standards. To address these issues, they collaborated with Trane Commercial to implement a new, efficient ice plant solution involving chillers and a building automation system.

Trane implemented a comprehensive solution featuring a CGAM Air-Cooled Scroll Chiller, a "free-cooling" fluid cooler, and a Tracer SC+ building automation system. This new system resulted in a 50% reduction in annual electrical costs, significantly enhanced ice quality, and simplified operations and maintenance. The project's success was also recognized with a grant that covered nearly half of the cost, providing a strong return on investment for the town.
