A Trane Commercial Case Study
The Petroleum Building, a historic Denver office property, faced challenges with an obsolete and inefficient manual HVAC system. The building was entirely reliant on a single engineer for operation, leaving it vulnerable and unable to provide zoned comfort to tenants during seasonal weather transitions. To address this, the owners partnered with Trane Commercial to upgrade the system and implement building automation controls.
Trane Commercial implemented a turnkey solution that included replacing the chiller, adding a boiler plant, installing variable frequency drives, and overhauling the temperature controls with a new building automation system (BAS). This was financed through the project's energy savings. The results provided $117,000 in annual energy and operating cost savings, increased tenant comfort, and gave the building staff flexible, computerized control. Trane also provided a Scheduled Service Agreement to maintain the new systems and protect the long-term investment.
