Tallahassee Single Day Surgery Center, a 14,600-square-foot ambulatory surgical center in Tallahassee, Florida, needed better control of temperature and humidity in a hot, humid climate. Its 14-year-old rooftop air conditioners were providing unreliable comfort and making it difficult to meet strict surgical environment requirements without excessive energy use. Trane Commercial helped address these challenges with HVAC and humidity-control technology.

Trane Commercial designed and installed a custom rooftop air conditioning system with CDQ™ (Cool, Dry, Quiet) desiccant dehumidification and Tracer Summit™ building automation. The system delivered cool, dry air in just 10 days, improved operating room temperature and humidity control, and kept humidity at 40–42 percent or lower. The CDQ solution also avoided more than $135,000 in additional electrical distribution work, while reducing energy use and operating quietly with up to 10 dB attenuation.
