A Trane Commercial Case Study
Sumter County Government worked with Trane Commercial to address aging, inefficient building systems across multiple government facilities after an economic downturn led to deferred maintenance and rising operating costs. The County’s historical courthouse was a major concern, with a 40-year-old chiller and other outdated equipment driving poor comfort and high energy use.
Trane Commercial implemented a Guaranteed Energy Performance Contract that included LED lighting retrofits, HVAC and roof upgrades, water conservation fixtures, and a Tracer® SC building automation system integrated into a Tracer® Ensemble™ platform, plus energy management services. The project reduced energy and operational costs by about 38% annually, saved $298,639 per year, secured $88,703 in utility rebates, avoided more than $2.8 million in capital costs, and helped reopen the historic courthouse.
