Southeast of Saline School District - Customer Case Study

Southeast of Saline School District, a 700-student district in a single 151,000-square-foot building near Salina, Kansas, wanted to reduce energy use and improve its learning environment after students identified major opportunities for conservation. Working with Trane Commercial, the district explored upgrades to its aging HVAC and lighting systems, including support from Trane’s BTU Crew energy-efficiency education program.

Trane Commercial helped Southeast of Saline implement a $1.4 million infrastructure improvement project using a performance contract, including high-efficiency HVAC upgrades and a Tracer Summit™ building automation system, while lighting upgrades reduced bulb energy use by nearly half. The project is projected to cut energy consumption by at least 21% and save about $83,000 per year, with $29,657 in guaranteed energy savings and $53,953 in operating and maintenance savings over the 15-year contract.
