Salt River Fields, the Scottsdale, Arizona spring training complex for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies, was dealing with HVAC systems and controls from multiple vendors, plus separate contractors for mechanical and controls service. This fragmented setup led to inconsistent operations, inefficiencies, and excessive energy use, so the facility turned to Trane Commercial for help with service, controls integration, and energy management.

Trane Commercial integrated the third-party controls into a Trane Tracer SC building automation system and added Trane Intelligent Services and one-stop HVAC/controls service contracts. Using building performance data, Salt River Fields corrected scheduling and equipment issues, optimized cooling tower operations, and improved system performance. The result was lower electric usage, reduced labor and maintenance costs, fewer HVAC issues, less wear on equipment, and extended equipment life, with Trane technicians also using the data to make quarterly service visits more productive.
